Caution

(1) The user is cautioned that the information contained in the Greaves Papers has been transcribed but not verified or proven. There has been no attempt made to correct known mistakes nor to edit this material in any way.

(2) In order to make the tremendous amount of information from the Greaves Papers accessible on-line as soon as possible, the transcription was done in increments of 2000 to 3000 individuals. This method results in duplicate entries for many individuals. All links to a name of interest should be checked to insure that no information is missed.

(3) When Greaves presents information on a man with a large family and more than one wife he rarely indicates which of the women is the mother of a particular child. Therefore, the children appear connected to the father with the wives listed as "other spouses" although any of the wives could be the mother of some or all of the children.

(4) Reading the "Notes" of each individual is important as they contain biographical data and other information that may provide significant clues to researchers. Information contained in the "Notes" was transcribed exactly as Greaves recorded it between 50 and 110 years ago and should be evaluated in that context.

(5) There is no source documentation and Greaves' work should be used as a research aid only.
