Gardner says he was probably the John Clake (Clarke) of E.T., mariner, of
whose estate his father-in-law Thomas Headley was made administrator Jan.
17, 1726-7. There was a John Clarke, captain of the sloop "Good Fortune"
that cleared from Perth Amboy June 4, 1726 bound for Delaware.
His father gave him land joining the land of Thomas Clark, and
