Notes for Francis (Frank) A. ROSS

Francis (Frank) A. Ross enlisted in the Union Army, Co. K, 27 Illinois
Regiment of US Infantry Volunteers at Jacksonville, Illinois on 2
September 1861 for three years. Born in Morgan Co., Illinois, is 21
years of age, 5 ft. 5 in. tall. Fair complexion, Grey eyes, Light hair,
and by occupation a Farmer. Discharged 28 March 1863 at St. Louis,
Missouri. The Certificate of Disability for Discharge states the reason
for his discharge is
Chronic valvular disease of the heart, with hypertrophy. He is not
able to perform any manual labor. I believe his disease is the
result of exposure in service.
