Notes for John Hopkins Clarke SUMNER

Mr. Sumner married Sarah Jane Shaeffer in Fairfield, Illinois in 1859. They moved to Leavenworth, Kansas soon thereafter. John was a carpenter and he built the home in Kansas for his daughter Ceola and her husband. It was a large brick house which is probably still standing (1998). He and his family moved to Lawrence, Kansas in the 1870's, and afterwards to the Kansas City area.
