Notes for Joseph Warren CLARK

Joseph was never married.
Joseph was the grantee in a deed from Abner Miller, Jr. and Mary, his wife, dated January 6, 1855, recorded in Essex County (NJ) Deed Book 215 (P9) at pages 39, 40 & 41, covering lands in Westfield, NJ which was then part of Essex County. Joseph
died intestate and his heirs are enumerated in a series of deed by the persons "having an interest in said premises as heirs at law of the said Joseph W. Clark, deceased". These deeds were made in 1868, and are recorded in Union County, and each
recite the prior conveyance of Abner Miller, Jr. and wife, to Joseph W. Clark.
A subject for further research. Abner Miller, Jr.'s wife was Mary Price Clark, sister of Joseph W. Clark. The late Westfield Historian, Richard P. Greaves, in writing of William 2 Clark [son of Samuel 1 and Hester (White) Clark], says that
William "lived on Central Avenue in Westfield on the road to Rahway on the farm where Abner Miller died in 1881". Abner Miller was the father of Abner Miller, Jr. and Abner, Sr., was 92 years old when he died, and was likely living with his son and
daughter-in-law, Mary Price Clark Miller at the time he died. Mary was a sister of Joseph W. Clark. It may be that the lands Abner, Jr. and Mary conveyed to Joseph in 1855 were part of the original lands owned by William 2 Clark. If so, this would
confirm Greaves' statement that David Clark (b. 1719 d. 3 April 1779 ) [said David being the great grandfather of Joseph W. Clark] was a son of William 2, Clark, and would confirm placement of David in the family of Samuel 1 & Hester (White) Clark.
