Notes for Sarah Jane HUFF


Family records of her daughter, Emma Reed, grandmother of Harman R. Clark, Jr.
Somer.Hist.Quarterly Vol.2 pg. 220; family records. In the year 1885, Sarah
lost her husband (19 Feb), and both her parents on 8 July.
The following is newspaper obituary, preserved by her daughter Emma Reed Clark, and now in possesion of Harman R. Clark, Jr.
Mrs. Sarah Jane Reed, widow of the late Harman Hoagland Reed, formerly of this place, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Burt Clark, of Augusta, Ga., March 6, after an extended illness. Mrs. Reed spent all of her life in this
community, having been born at Readington, N. J., until eight years ago, when she moved with her daughter South. Mrs. Reed was 74 years of age, and a noble, Christian woman. She is survived by one son, Alvah M. Reed, of Skillman, N. J.; one daughter,
Mrs. George Burt Clark, and one grandson, Harman Reed Clark.
Interment was at Augusta, Ga.
