Her father, Charles Lynde, was adopted and the name is that of his adoptive
parents; his birth parents are not known.
Birth records of Town of Perry were destroyed. Proof of birth obtained from N.Y. State Census, 1915, Wyomong County, page 1, election district No. 1 at line 8 town of Perry, permanent residence: 195 North Main Street, Perry, N.Y., Lynde, Helen J.,
daughter, age last birthday, 8, U.S. Citizen, in household of Charles Lynde, Head, w. M. 36, US - Cit - K Mill. Also from records of Perry Central Schools showing Helen Lynde born April 20, 1907, with name of father as Charles Lynde. "She entered
Kindergarten in 1912 and was in attendance in the Perry schools through 1916."
She attended Cleveland Normal School, qualifying as public school teacher, and taught in Lakewood, OH prior to her marriage in 1929.

Helen J. Lynde Clark, 77, was active in Christian education in Dunellen area
DUNELLEN, Helen J. Lynde Clark, 77, died Sunday (April 14,
1985) at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
She was born in Perry, N.Y., and lived in Elizabeth for 36 years and Dunellen for the past 20 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Dunellen. After graduating from the former Cleveland (Ohio) Normal School, Mrs. Clark was employed as
a school teacher for a few years. She attended the former Biblical Seminary in New York City, now the New York Theological Seminary. During the early 1940s, she was director of Christian
education at the First Presbyterian Church in Rahway. She also served as Christian education director at other churches, including Iselin Presbyterian Church and Avenel Presbyterian Church. She helped to organize Osceola Presbyterian Church in Clark.
She later served as literature secretary for the Women's Society of Christian Service of United Methodist Church in New York City. For many years, she taught Bible classes at churches and in homes in the Dunellen area. Mrs. Clark taught the Tuesday
morning Bible class at First Presbyterian Church in Dunellen for 25 years and was the church's Christian education director for many years. She was a member of the American Council of Ramabai-Mukti Mission in Clinton. For many years, she also was on
the faculty of the Interdenominational Young People's Conference in| the Poconos in Pennsylvania. She also taught at
conferences and gatherings of the New York State Christian Endeavor. Her husband, Harman R. Clark Sr., died in 1968.. Surviving are a son, Green Brook Township Attorney Harman R. Clark Jr. of Dunellen, and four grandchildren. Arrangements are by Mundy
Funeral Home in Dunellen.
