Notes for Charles Tilden LYNDE


N.Y. State Census, 1915, Wyoming County, page 1, election district No. 1, Town of Perry, at 195 North Main Street, Perry, N.Y., Lynde, Chas., - Head - w. - M - 36 - US - Cit - K Mill. Shows wife Marion age 41 - Housework; Harry, son, age 10, and
Helen J., daughter, age 8.
His daughter, Helen J. Lynde Clark, told her son, Harman R. Clark, Jr., that Charles Lynde had been adopted and that his adoptive parents were Charles and Emma. This has not been documented. His birth parents are not known.
See letter from Town of Perry, dated May 11, 1989, to Harman R. Clark, Jr., relating to burials in Hope Cemetery, indicates that Charles Lynde purchased a six grave lot on June 21, 1913, and that Grave #4 is "occuped by Edward S. Lynde".
The family moved from Perry, N.Y. to Herkimer, N.Y. about 1916, and later to Cleveland and Lakewood, Ohio. In Perry and Herkimer, Charles worked in the Mills. About 1925, Charles left his family, divorced and remarried. He was for many years a
Trolley Conductor on the public lines in Cleveland, Ohio.
