Notes for Frances Margerum RANDALL

With regard to her middle name, Frances wrote to her daughter, Barbara, at
Christmas prior to her death: This child's rocker was given to me by Mrs.
Frances Margerum Riley, the only daughter of Colonel Mahlon R. ("Pa")
Margerum, the Secretary of the Trenton Fair at the time I was born, and for
many years afterward. My dad, L. P. Randall, Sr., was "Pa's" assistant. The
Frances of my name was originally from my great-grandma Frances White, of
England. Her daughter, Jane, was my beloved Grandma Harris who taught me how
to care for children and to keep house. My parents thought it "diplomatic"
to add the Margerum as a middle name, since "Pa's" daughter was also Frances.
She prepared a handwritten family history booklet, with many photographs,
for each of her grandchildren who were married during her lifetime. These
included pedigree charts from which much of the earlier generations in this
compilation were taken, and which provided a valuable base from which to
search for additional ancestors.
