Notes for Mary Elliott SCUDDER


William's Obituary states that "William C. Reed died at the home of his
wife's mother, Mrs. Mary C. Scudder, at Fanwood. . . He is survived by a
wife, his mother, Mrs. Sarah J. Reed, and sister, Mrs. G. B. Clark, of
Augusta, Ga., and a brother, Alvah M. Reed, of Skillman,N.J."

Union County Deed Book 651 page 200, dated September 25, 1914, is DEED
from -- Grantors: Mary C. Scudder, widow; Susan S. Scudder, Anna W. Scudder,
Margaret L. Scudder, George W. Scudder, all unmarried, of the Township of
Fanwood; Julia L.Lee and William Lee, her husband, of the Town of
Hackettstown; and Mary Scudder Reed, widow, of the Town of Westfield, to
Grantee: Isaac Ludlow Scudder. Recites premises conveyed to Isaac F. Scudder
and Daniel S. Scudder, and that grantors, above, being widow and all heirs of
Daniel S. Scudder, deceased.
The Isaac F. Scudder would appear to be Isaac Frazee Scudder, older brother of Daniel S. Scudder. The grantee, Isaac Ludlow Scudder, may have been the son of Issac F. and Margaret (Ludlow) Scudder.
There is also a DEED dated June 4, 1924, Union County Deed Book 946, page 489, made by Mary S. Reed, widow, to Ethel Lucas, reciting premises which had been conveyed to William C. Reed by deed of Welch, dated August 23, 1902, recorded in Deed Book
400 page 592; recites death of William C. Reed June 9, 1912, and that Mary S. Reed was his devisee.
