Notes for Rebecca WOODRUFF

Woodruff Chronicles II, at page 185, has "Rebecca Woodruff, born February/
March, 1766, m. Feb. 7, 1784, to Thomas Clark of Long Island who came to
Westfield about 1750. (Littell, pg. 22)." That is incorrect. It was
Rebecca's father, Thomas Woodruff, who came to Westfield from Long Island
about 1750. See Woodruffs of N.J., pg. 86, wedding to John Baker Clark. See
also comments under John Baker Clark. Likewise, the "History of Union County"
(Pub. 1897), which is not always reliable, does show, on page 545,
under the biography of Addison S. Clark, his grandparents as John Clark and
Rebecca Woodruff, daughter of Thomas Woodruff and Rebecca Merry.
She was named in Will of her father-in-law (as "my daughter-in-law Rebekah
Clark"), Jesse Clark, N.J.Cal. Wills 1814-1817, pages 82-83.
