Notes for Cornelius CLARK

http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/OHLAWREN/2006-09/1158854585
Cornelius Clark was a son of Samuel Clark and Mary Darby, who were married in NJ in March 1791. Census records indicate that they had several children in NJ, and at least one child born in VA. I haven' pinned down exactly when the got to Scioto Co, but
Samuel was in the 1811 Tax list. I also don't have any proof that Mary was still living when they reached Ohio.
There is an article written by Gilruth, that was published in the Ironton Register when he was an old man, that starts with the west bank of Storms Creek and works westward, outlining the families who settled along the river. He cannot recalls that
Mrs. Clark ever lived in Ohio.
Cornelius Clark also served in Capt. John Kelly's Co. in the War of 1812. He and Elizabeth were the parents of a large family, including Levi, the youngest son. Several of the sons served in the Civil War, but since Cornelius died about 1860, Levi
stayed home to take care of his mother and sisters.
In 1862 he married Emily Jane Rose, his first cousin once removed. They had a large family. Several of the sons moved to the Washington C.H., London, Circleville, OH area, and there is still a large group there today. My ancestor was their son Delbert.
Delbert married Ada Delawder in 1890, and soon moved to Union Twp. My dad and I neither had a chance to know our grandfathers, since Levi Clark died in 1912, a few months after my dad was born, and Delbert Clark died in 1947, a few months after I was
born.
I will be happy to hear from anyone descended from any of these Clarks or Lamberts.
