Notes for Richard VALENTINE

Genealogies of L.I.Families, from NYGBR, Vol. 2, page 495.
Settled in Scotch Plains, N.J. with his brother Ichabod about 1728.
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=ancsekehl&id=I60 [accessed 2/3/14]:
Richard Valentine probably died of the small pox that caused the demise of his brother Ichabod and his family 1 1/2 to 2 months after Richard's death in March, 1766, and Di Duca says he contracted the disease while careing for his brother and family.
In his will he left sons Jonas and Ephraim his homestead of 100 acres; the portion adjacent to Nathaniel Gray with dwelling and barn to Jonas; and the remainder to Ephraim. To son Obidiah he left his land in Essex County, New Jersey lying on the north
side of Stoney Hill and crossed by the Salt Brook. To wife Phobe (sic), his 3 sons and daughters Phobe, Mary, Rachel, Sarah and Elizabeth all of his personal estate.
Made his Will 6 July 1764 in which me mentions wife and children.
Also possibly had a son Richard who died in 1745 or 1748.
Richard was son of Ephraim 2 (b. ca. 1668) who was son of Richard 1 Valentine
and his wife Deborah. See Staten Island Bible records, LDS, Group 1955.
