Notes for Isaac HENDRICKS


DOD from Westfield Presbyterian Church Funeral Register.
Several references refer to him as "Dr. Isaac Hendricks".
Left extensive will 1811 in which he describes himself as being "of Westfield."

Samuel Downer and John Scudder were executors of his estate. In the Essex County, NJ Orphans Court Records, Book C, p. 109 mention is made of their inventory of the estate, and the fact that there is not enough money to pay creditors. All persons
interested in the estate are asked to appear in April 1813 to show cause to sell land to settle the estate. In record book C, p. 121 and p. 125 [very detailed] the court orders various lands to be sold to settle the estate debts.

1 March 1798 William Craig of Essex Co. made choice of Isaac Hendricks to be
his guardian. William was the son of James Craig. Liber 37, p. 318, 9092-9095G
Mr. Hendricks and his wife do not appear to be buried at the Westfield
Presbyterian Churchyard.

Isaac Hendricks owned the farm now occupied by John R. Miller, and also the farm owned by
the late David Miller belonged in 1812 to the Hendricks family." [1882 History of Union and Middlesex Counties, New Jersey, p.331]
