Joseph Hatfield's name appears in attestation, 9 December 1721, of a will by Benjamin Parkhurst, and again, 11 March 1727, of a will by the widow, Margaret Mauritz. A record is found in the County Clerk's Office, Newark, New Jersey, of a deed given 5
November 1722, by Nathaniel and Joseph Ross to Joseph Hatfield (weaver) for £120, conveying all that dwelling house...or small lot of land, 3/4 of an acre, bounded E. by land of John Hendricks and Matthias DeHart, W. by land of Wm. Brown, and N & S by
highways... He was one of the signers to the "Answer to the Bill in Chancery" published in 1752. When the Bill of Complaint was filed in Chancery, his name was omitted. Possibly he had died in the interval.

See brother Abraham Hetfield's will 1742 NJSA.
Some say Joseph died 1793 at age 93, but I have seen no proof.
