Notes for Samuel MARSH

Samuel Marsh was the First of the Marsh Family in New Jersey. His ancestry is not certain, but it is clear that he was NOT a son of John and Grace (Baldwin) Marsh, though that is found frequently in some print and in family group sheets
circulated among various Marsh family descendants. For various sources on the Marsh family:
Marsh Collection at the N.J. Historical Society, Newark.
Marsh records in C.C. Gardner Collections, Special Collections at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J.
Marsh Family Bulletins (with some caution; these are good for clues but also contain numerous errors).
Savage, Genealogical Dictionary, Vol. III, page 155.
New Haven Genealogical Magazine Vol. 5-6, page 1149.
Atwater's History of Colony of New Haven, pages 109, 702, 714.
New Haven VR Part 1.
Hatfield's History of Elizabethtown.
NEHGR 9:316 (Oct. 1855), "Baptisms in New Haven, Conn.": Samuel Marsh naming children.
