See Union County Deed Book 9, page 205, dated May 15, 1851, made by Charles Clark and Mary Ann Clark, his wife, and Stewart E. Clark & Julia Clark, his wife, to Matthias Clark of the City of New York. It recites being part of real estate of the
late Samuel Y. Clark, deceased, Township of Westfield.
The Bible record of Charles Clark, II, lists Samuel Youman Clark's birth as Jan. 12th 1786, and marriage to Rachel Clark Jan. 11th, 1806.
Westfield Presbyterian Church Records, page 407 -- baptism.
Born in Westfield, but moved to New York City [Greenwich Village area], then
returned to Westfield after the death of his father.
IN 1850 they had Matthias Clark, age 8, living with them. Not certain who his
parents are, but he was later a Civil War soldier. Buried Fairview Cemetery.
Matthias was born in New York.
