Notes for Elizabeth M. CLARK

Charles Carroll Gardner, Vol. 29, CLARK, page 141, under John Marsh Clark and his 1st wife, Elizabeth Ross, lists: "Elizabeth 6 M. born 179 Md. Benjamin T. Clark, s. of Charles in 1808."
Other references on Lt. Charles Clark [1752-1821] show him with a son, Benjamin Trotter Clark, who married Elizabeth M. Clark. To date we have not seen a work which brings these two references together and documents that the Benjamin Trotter
Clark, son of Lt. Charles Clark, was the "Benjamin T. Clark, s. of Charles" mentioned by Gardner, whose wife was the Elizabeth M. Clark who was the daughter of John Marsh Clark and Elizabeth Ross.
We note, however, that John Marsh Clark had a sister, Susanna Clark, who married James Vreeland to become Susanna Vreeland Clark. It would have been natural for Elizabeth M. [Marsh?] Clark Clark to name a daughter Susan Vreeland Clark, after
her Aunt Susanna, and Benjamin Trotter Clark and Elizabeth M. Clark Clark had a daughter they named Susan Vreeland Clark [See #8350].
See Ross Family No. 917 page 145.
Married by Rev. Picton of the Westfield Presbyterian Church.
Middle name may have been "Morse," subject to proof.
