Notes for Rachel CLARK

Westfield Church Records, page 436, marriage.
Genealogical Collections, C.C.Gardner p.105; 149.
If Rachel's father was a son of William Clark, then it is likely that Rachel
was named for David's sister, Rachel Clark, born 1723, who died 16 July 1741.
Her will (File 10766G) dated 11 January 1810 and proved 15 May 1813 makes the following bequests. To daughter Sarah, wife of Moses Dunham, a scarlet cloak and 1/2 of wearing apparel. To daughter Abigail, wife of William Pierson, 1/2 of wearing
apparel and household furniture purchased for her at marriage. To son David, $20. To granddaughter Rachel Baker, daughter of Nathaniel, 1 cow plus a bed and bedding. To granddaughter Phebe Ann Dunham, daughter of Moses and Sarah, a set of bed
curtains. Residue of estate to son, Matthias. If Matthias should die under age and without issue, residue of estate to sons, David and Nathaniel. Funeral records at the Westfield Presbyterian Church indicated her interment two days after that of her
son, Nathaniel. [Preceding quote being from research of Milt Rankin].
Note: C. C. Gardner has her estimated birth date as 1741, but in view of date of her marriage, and dates of births of children, particularly her last son, Joshua, a birth date of 1748 seems more realistic.
