Notes for Robert CLARK

2nd wife, Abigail, was widow of his son Amos Clark.
Robert 4 Clark, son of Joshua 3 and Mary Clark, was probably born at Rahway
about 1733. He was md. at E.T. May 3, 1756, to Elizabeth Morse, daughter of
Amos Morse of Rahway, who was born Feb. 17, 1737. She died at Rahway May 19,
1790. After her death, Mr. Clark md. for his 2nd wife, Abigail, the widow of
his son Amos Clark, and daughter of Caleb and Elizabeth (Townley) Crane, who
was born about 1761. Mr. Clark died at Rahway Feb. 16, 1811, in his 78th year.
His will, dated Feb. 13, 1811, and probated March 2, 1811, mentions children
and grandchildren, and Abigail, widow of son Amos and "now my wife". She died
Mar. 29, 1827, aged about 67, and is buried at Elizabeth, as wife of Amos
Clark. The Revolutionary Muster rolls, of New Jersey, show that Robert Clark
was a private in the "continental line" and later a captain in the 1st Reg. of
Essex Co. Troops. He is called "My kinsman Robert Clark" in will of John
Marsh, 1775, and is mentioned in the will of his brother-in-law David Clark.
