Jenkin Phillips left a will in Jefferson County in which he mentioned his daughter and her husband Ludlow Clark:
"I give and devise to my daughter Lydia Clark 725? acres lying in Jefferson County known by the name of the Duck Spring tract it being the land wherein she now resides to her and her heirs forever. I also give to my daughter Lydia Clark 11 negroes by
name of Catherine, Henry, ?, Lucy, ?, Samuel, Evan, Mary and Kody? which said negroes I have lent her husband Ludlow Clark for and during his natural life, but at his death it is my wish and devise that they should descend with their increase to my
daughter Lydia Clark and her heirs forever."
