In his seventy-seventh year he actively engaged Sunday School and was the instructor in a large Bible class.
Greaves states that he lived in the house afterwards owned and occupied by his son J. Lawrence Clark. He was well educated and for some time was the village schoolmaster. In later years he was a famer and store keeper at Branch Mills. He was part owner of a grist mill afterwards Drake's Mill.
