Notes for William E. DOWNER

Mr. Downer was the son of Dr. Avery and Hannah Allen Downer. Mr. Downer was
an early principal of Cranbury Academy, Cranbury, New Jersey and Oconomowoc,
Wisconsin. he was a member of Co. L, 1st reg't Engineers and Mechanics,
Michigan Volunteers in the Civil War. After the war he resumed his profession
of teaching.
